About Her Art
Jeri Hardy’s art talks to the heart and the soul. Her paintings are inspirational and spiritual. Jeri Hardy goes beyond paint and incorporates many mediums  in her art. She is a visionary when it comes to painting and art. She utilizes hand-dyed wool to fashion crosses. These crosses then become the centerpiece of the painting. The cross pieces evolved by using different mediums and textures in the paintings. The beauty of the wool can stand on its own but when combined with paint and molding paste, it literally becomes a work of art. Jeri Hardy’s work has been found in several galleries in the Southeast. Her work is currently being showcased at the Magnolia Gallery in Gautier, Mississippi, The Sun Orchard in Gautier, Mississippi and the Main Street Florist in Moss Point Mississippi. She is a Mississippi Gulf Coast artist and her art is both whimsical and spiritual. Her pieces range from colorful paintings of Biblical stories to ancient ruins to pictures of saints. While most of her art focuses on her faith, it also reflects her joy for life. Her paintings are uplifting and beautiful to look at and admire. Jeri has commissioned several pieces for both private and corporate clients around the Mississippi Gulf Coast area. Her secular work is just as beautiful and artful as her religion pieces. She likes to incorporate many non-traditional mediums in her work. For example, Jeri Hardy will take a small picture frame with a photograph and arrange it to blend with the other mediums. She can also take small mementos and place them on the canvas. She can tell a personal story with her paintings.  Jeri Hardy is becoming famous in the Mississippi Gulf Coast area for her cross pieces. In some art circles, she is known as the “Cross Lady”. Jeri is proud to be known for her work with the cross. At first, Jeri was leery to focus on religion and employ religious themes in her paintings. Over time, Jeri realized she could only be true to herself and her beliefs if she released her fear and let the true nature of her art come out. She has been blessed ever since she took the leap of faith. Her paintings appeal to most everyone. Young children are thrilled with her use of colors and whimsical subjects. Other artists are fascinated by her use of molding paste. Art lovers around the country are drawn to her paintings because of the peace people feel when viewing her art. Jeri Hardy has been painting for most of her adult life. She did not start out being an artist, tennis was her game. Over the years, friends and family encouraged her to pursue her talent as an artist. Once Jeri realized how much fun she can have and how much joy her paintings were bringing to others, she decided to paint full time. She has not put the paintbrush down since. Jeri uses her faith and her joy of living as inspirations for her art. One look at her paintings and one can see how much she enjoys what she does. |
